Wind farm Viru-Nigula, Estonia, 24 MW
The wind farm “Viru-Nigula” is located at the northern coast of Estonia, some 125 km east of Tallinn. The distance to the sea border is around 7 km and the height above sea level is around 60 m.
The project development started in 2004 with a wind measurement, the planning- and permission phase was finished in autumn 2005.
The building works started in 2006, since late 2007 the wind farm is in operation. A total number of 8 turbines of type WinWind WWD-3 with a total capacity of 24 MW is connected through its own substation to the national grid.
